Duo Amare was formed by two London-based string players: Scottish-born violinist Esther Kim and cellist Sarah Gait, originally from Cumbria. Since its formation in 2018, the duo has performed at venues such as St Mary-le-Bow, Kings Place and V&A Museum and was recently awarded a place on the Royal College of Music Gateway Scheme. The players enjoy adding their own twist to recital programmes, including lesser-known duos and contemporary works alongside standard classical repertoire, and specialising in adding their own improvisations and arrangements of classical, popular and rock music.

The musicians’ individual chamber careers have included appearances at Cadogan Hall, Wigmore Hall,  Southbank Centre and on BBC Radio 3, as well as prizes for chamber music from both the Royal Academy of Music and the Royal Northern College of Music. Both musicians are also busy soloists: Esther has recently won the Grand Prize Virtuoso Competition, while Sarah recently made her concerto debut with the Stuttgarter Kammerorchester, performing her own improvised concerto.
